I came across this recipe for homemade play dough the other day. It had been awhile since the last batch dried up. As I've been trying to learn and use my doTERRA essential oils in new ways I decided to give it a try. I followed the recipe, and thankfully, it was quite easy and soon enough we had a ball of play dough. This is what our play dough looked like after it cooled and was rolled into a smooth ball.
While the recipe calls for using single oils, I thought I'd be clever
and try using the Balance blend; 1) because I love the smell and 2) I
thought, hey the boys could play AND chill out a bit all at the same. That plan quickly failed when our oldest declared the play dough to smell disgusting. I took a whiff and had to agree with him. He promptly requested I use Wild Orange. That solved the problem and we soon had Wild Orange scented blue play dough. I will say that while the recipe calls for 5 drops of essential oils, 8-10 was needed for us to no longer smell the rest of the ingredients.
The blue is now mixed with orange play dough that was given by a friend, but it is still very useable and smells delish. Give it a go!
