DIY Pit Paste

I've been using natural deodorants for years now. Some would work for a few months max and then they would stop, many more did not work at all. I am here to tell you that I have found a solution! I've been using this recipe successfully for about a year. Two months before making my own I found a brand that worked well, but I realized I could make it myself at home. So, I guess you could say this "formula" has been successful for me for the last 15 months. My recipe is adapted from here.

Here we go...

First things first...the ingredients needed are simple.

I loosely follow these measurements:
4 tablespoons virgin coconut oil
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon shea butter (optional)
4-6 drops of essential oils, I use lavender and melaleuca

I say loosely because it kind of depends on your preference as to the consistency of the paste. I would follow the liquid measurements and then start adding in the powder a tablespoon at a time.

There are two ways to do this, you can melt the coconut oil and shea butter first, let it cool a bit and then mix the powder and essential oils in OR you can do as  I did today.

First, use the back of a spoon to soften and smooth the coconut oil and shea butter.

Next, mix in your baking soda and arrowroot powder to a thickish consistency. You don't want it to be liquid, but you don't want it too be too hard either. A thick moisturizer consistency is what you are looking for.

Add your essential oils and voila.

You will have to experiment a bit to decide how much your body needs, but I use a pea size amount on each side. Easy, fast, and really works. It won't prevent you from sweating, but it will keep you from smelling...bad anyway. I take extra caution when wearing grey or any silk like material, extra caution meaning, let it dry completely before putting your shirt on.

Try it out. Let me know what you think!
